Hi,
Thanks for your comment, but the order in which the RPM’s are installed should not be important. I installed Skype and then the dependencies myself. The only thing I can think to is that library paths might need to be refreshed.

Thanks. Me too, but….
My 1st experience was to install skype and then, at calling it, install the packages it asks for (which, by memory, should be ones cited above). Then the id/passw windows comes, I put in and then … “abort” was the message. To me, the installation order made a difference, so back again, first I made the packages and then the skype rpm … as stated (might it have been through yast2?). Some more skilled linux people might tell why/if this is so, really. Anyway, now I get my skype running. Fine.
